Devoted fans call for new Resident Evil Outbreak with Support Outbreak

Resident Evil Outbreak will always have a special place in my heart for being one of my absolute favorite games of all-time. By taking the thrills of the classic survival horror series Resident Evil and placing it online where up to four people could play in cooperative matches, Resident Evil Outbreak soon became a cult favorite among Resident Evil fans. This was one of the first titles available to play online on PlayStation via a network adapter, and online experiences were nowhere near as advanced as they are today (e.g. players could not communicate with voice chat during games). My own love for the game went deep enough for me to create a site dedicated to the Resident Evil series and fellow fans that also loved the games. Although I still enjoy playing other popular titles such as Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City today, nothing can ever take the place of Resident Evil Outbreak.

I was thrilled to recently learn of a fan-made campaign that is attempting to resurrect the Resident Evil Outbreak series. Appropriately name Support Outbreak, the program is calling for fans of Resident Evil Outbreak to band together to let Capcom know we want Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 ported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with online capabilities, and Resident Evil Outbreak File 3 should be one of Capcom’s priorities as well. The Support Outbreak group has continued to grow since its creation in 2007 and is now over 700 members strong. Support Outbreak has also managed to amass an incredible 23,000+ posts and 2.7 million views at the groups official headquarters on the Capcom forums. An online petition calling for Resident Evil Outbreak File 3 has even managed an impressive 8,500+ signatures that must be hard for Capcom to ignore. If you’re a fan of Resident Evil Outbreak or the Resident Evil series, you need to check out this cause today. For more information on Support Outbreak, check out the official Support Outbreak Campaign Headquarters on the Capcom forums and head over to the official Support Outbreak Facebook group.
