Top 5 Characters We Want in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

It seems everyday we get more information about the upcoming brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on the finished product. Developer SuperBot has already revealed plenty of characters that will be featured in the game, and you have to wonder how many characters the company has yet to officially release to the public and if there will be any post launch characters added to the game. As far as the list goes currently, it’s a very impressive list that contains many great characters from both first and third party titles. Still, we can’t help but have nerd arguments about who’d we would like to see make the final cut for the entire game, so here are my Top 5 Characters We Want in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale!

5. Executioner (Resident Evil 5)
With the recent announcement of Devil May Cry‘s Dante being added to the roster, I can’t help but think Capcom has plenty of other characters who would make a great additions to the fighting title. With many other characters having already made appearances in other fighting games including Mega-Man, Zero, Frank West, Chris Redfield, Albert Wesker, Nemesis and more, I wanted to think outside the box a little here to come up with a character that would be a good fit but doesn’t instantly come to mind. The Executioner, who saw his rise to fame in Resident Evil 5, fits this mold well. The guy is as intimidating as they come and nobody wants to be on the receiving end of the guy’s axe blade. Give his character some powerful moves based around the axe and some close range punches and kicks, and this guy would make a great addition to the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale roster.

4. Robed Character (Journey)
So, we’ve got first-party and third-party characters aplenty in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale already. Now, the only thing missing is an independent title, so the best PlayStation Network title of the year in Journey seems like as good a place to find a character as any. While some new moves would most likely be needed to be crafted for this character, the cloth minions could do much of the battling for the character. This tiny army could slice and dice your opponents from a short distance or even launch as a projectile towards enemies that are further away. Journey is a beautiful game with a great score, so maybe there would even be a move that stuns your opponent as they are left in awe by your skills. The cloaked figure could have a friend help them out on Supers as well making this a well rounded character that would fit in nicely with such a diverse set of fighters.

3. Commander Shepard (Mass Effect Series)
Here’s a unique idea: give us a great character that can actually alternate between male and female versions. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale isn’t very friendly to the ladies with the only female characters being Fat Princess and the unannounced Nariko from Heavenly Sword, so why not give us a female Shepard to blast away our opponents? This would also give us another great long range character along with Killzone’s Colonel Radec, but Shepard could possess many other great powers in addition to powerful weaponry and a few short range attacks. With a huge move poll to draw attacks from, Commander Shepard is an easy choice as one of the best available characters SuperBot could create for their game.

2. Spyro (Spyro the Dragon Series)
Similar to my number one character, it’s hard to think of the history of the PlayStation brand without this guy coming to mind. Everybody’s favorite purple dragon has had an up and down career with a strong popularity surge early in his career that later dwindled to a degree that even bringing in top Hollywood actor Elijah Wood to voice the character couldn’t produce the same results ever again. Then, the Skylanders series came along and gave Spyro a new direction for his career. Spyro would be perfect for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale with a variety of head butts, tail swipes and fire breathing combos that would completely overwhelm his opponents, and the dragon could glide around stages to quickly put distance between he and his opponents. And don’t even get me started on the great Supers this guy could possess. He could’ve easily been number one on the list had I believed there was any chance of him making the cut.

1. Crash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot Series)
The more important question is how is Crash Bandicoot not already featured in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale? Sure, the marsupial has moved on to other platforms since he was first created by Naughty Dog in the 90s, but at the same time, he used to be the poster boy for the original PlayStation back in the day. That alone would warrant putting him in the game that celebrates the legacy of the PlayStation brand. Then, you realize he would simply make a great character for the game with a variety of short range attacks and blazing speed that would make him great at getting in close and landing some quick-hitting combos. Hopefully, he has just yet to be announced, because I find it hard to think of the best PlayStation characters of all time without thinking of this guy.
