Borderlands 2 (Soundtrack Review)

Welcome back to the beautiful world of Pandora where looting and shooting are the only two rules you need know. That's right; Borderlands 2 has finally arrived bringing with it plenty of new guns, characters and a brand new soundtrack that will keep you fully immersed in the experience for the long haul. BAFTA award winner Jesper Kyd, the dynamic duo of Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan, and musician Raison Varner have spent months creating the music for one of the biggest releases of the year, and if you've already played the game, you'll know they did a phenomenal job with these fantastic compositions. What you might not know is that the official Borderlands 2 Soundtrack was released right alongside the launch of the game on September 18, 2012.

Borderlands 2 is a blast to play alone or with some friends, but one thing that instantly sticks out in this return to Pandora is the return of a great soundtrack. Jesper Kyd is once again bringing his atmospheric tones to the game to produce some great overworld tunes and a fantastic song that is featured in the game's main menu. Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan also composed much of the game's soundtrack including many of the intense battle themes you'll hear throughout Borderlands 2 such as the Warrior Boss fight and the game's final epic encounter. Raison Varner also lends his talents to the official Borderlands 2 Soundtrack to help produce what is sure to be one of the best video game soundtracks of 2012.

There are 23 songs in all featured on the official Borderlands 2 Soundtrack with well over an hour of great tunes to tantalize your ear buds. Many of the songs are featured heavily or in key moments of Borderlands 2, but it is a little saddening to know that not all of the songs featured in the game made the cut for the soundtrack. The official Borderlands 2 Soundtrack is a great listen and even features an adequate amount of wub wub for those of you that are into that sort of thing.

You'll grow familiar with songs featured in Borderlands 2 through playing the game, and purchasing the official Borderlands 2 Soundtrack will actually make you gain a deeper appreciation for the game's music and love the great tunes even more. Borderlands 2 features a diverse cast of character whose unique personalities come together to make an awesome game, and the game's soundtrack is no different with these various composers coming together to produce a great score fans of the series will enjoy for a long time.
