5 Reasons To Get Excited for the Toejam & Earl Collection

Sega announced earlier this month that they will be releasing the glorious Toejam & Earl titles for PlayStation Network. Players will be able to once again jump into the adventures of their favorite aliens in the 1991 title Toejam & Earl and its 1993 sequel Panic in Funkotron. The collection will release on November 7, 2012 and here are the top five reasons you should get excited for its release!

5. Classic Comic Mischief
Toejam & Earl came at a time in the 90′s when gamers enjoyed good ole’ comic mischief to its fullest extent. Fans took on the role as two alien rappers–Toejam & Earl. Both characters had their quirky, fun-loving traits that made them jump right into the player’s heart. The characters had their own unique characteristics and complimented each other nicely. The characters would fall asleep during their missions, burp when they drank too much and even stop on their adventure to dance with hula girls. The game took full advantage of all the humorous moments and made the player laugh.

4. Fun Enemies
The best part of Toejam & Earl were the enemies–earthlings–who brought the adventure to life. In the original title and its sequel, we got a taste of some of the most interesting enemies to ever appear in a video game. In the first title, players got stranded on Earth and was looking for a way back home. In the sequel, however, players return home only to find that they had human stowaways. The earthlings ranged from Shoppers, Boogey Man, Chickens, The Lawnmower Man and many more. These characters were so ingeniously designed that players would scratch their head and think “WTF!”

3. Funky Soundtrack
The music in Toejam & Earl was one of a kind. It really took the game to the next level and made every moment a real party! You could have a terrible day but as soon as you set down and popped in Toejam & Earl–then your mood was automatically lifted. The music really uplifted players on an emotional level while immersing the player within its funky beats. To once again set down and play to this soundtrack will be a real treat for fans of the classic games.

2. Presents
Yes, we will once again get to enjoy all the in-game presents! These were an intriguing part of the title, and it felt like Christmas the entire time! The best part of the presents in Toejam & Earl was that you never knew what you were going to get when you unwrapped your glorious gift. Presents ranged from food, extra lives, doorways, school books, telephones or even earthlings! It was always one hell of a surprise.

1. Toejam & Earl
The best thing to get excited for it to once again step into the shoes of Toejam & Earl! To say I loved these characters would be an understatement. They are more than just characters–but a part of how I got to be where I am today. I remember sitting with my brother and playing as these aliens for hours on end. The enjoyment that we got from this game could never be expressed in words. Reliving the classic game moments also reminds you of the memories you had when you first picked up the title. Now, let’s see if my rapping abilities have improved since then!
