Assassin’s Creed III Auction To Aid Rock The Vote

Ubisoft and Rock will be auctioning off 17 one-of-a-kind art pieces from the game-inspired “Art of the Assassin” exhibit online with all net proceeds going directly to Rock the Vote. The seven-day auction begins today, Tuesday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m. EDT and ends on October 30 at 6:00 p.m. EDT, the same day of Assassin’s Creed III’s U.S. launch.

Each piece in the “Art of the Assassin” collection is inspired by themes found in this year’s highly-anticipated video game, Assassin’s Creed III, and developed by some of today’s most thought-provoking young artists. The exhibit, complete with works ranging from large-scale oil paintings to vivid watercolor panoramics, has received positive reactions from the art and video game communities alike as it’s made its way across the country for one-night viewings throughout the summer.

“After seeing how people responded in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York when we exhibited the work, we can’t wait to give people a chance to purchase the originals,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft. “And there’s no better way to conclude this campaign than giving our fans another way to experience the Assassin’s Creed brand, all while helping support Rock the Vote.”

The collection, which premiered in August with works by Ariel Erestingcol, Artek, DualForces, Justin Bartlett, Mark Dean Veca, Racecar 13, Dora Drimalas, Thank You X and Brian Flynn, has grown with additional pieces from Artek and Mr. Brainwash, exclusively for the auction.

Expected to be one of the more sought-after works in the auction is “Warrior,” a 36” x 36” media mix collage by visionary street artist Artek, who looked to pro football star Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) for inspiration. The work, which portrays Griffin shrouded in the iconic hood of the game’s hero, Connor, is one of six pieces from Artek available for purchase. A political science major at Baylor and the son of two American service members, Griffin hopes the collaboration will encourage people around the country to register and exercise their right vote.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft and Rock the Vote announced a partnership that runs through the presidential election with a number of innovative consumer initiatives, including the “Art of the Assassin” tour and auction and a special Assassin’s Creed III activation on Rock the Vote’s legendary Road Trip, bringing musical performances and voter registration to colleges nationwide.

Rock the Vote is the nation’s leading nonpartisan organization working to mobilize young people to participate in our country’s democracy and vote in every election. The Assassin’s Creed franchise, known for story lines inspired by the events inked in history books, brings the action stateside for the first time in ACIII, with players fighting for freedom during the American Revolution.
