September was a huge month for Xbox 360 owners. The month saw the release of some great sports titles such as NHL 13 with all new features and physics that would make the game the most realistic in the series and FIFA Soccer 13 introduced new mechanics of its own that would make it the best-selling title in series history. We also received two great new fighting games with Team Ninja's Dead or Alive 5 that retains classic gameplay while introducing many new features that create a better fighting title overall and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 that should continue to dominate the market thanks to plenty of great new features like the all new Fight Lab and a massive roster of characters from the entire series. Then there is Borderlands 2--a game most people most likely popped into their Xbox 360 on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, and they haven't removed it since. Luckily, this is the best time of the year for gamers with developers pushing out their products just in time for the holidays, so October is full of great releases as well. Let's check out some of them together, right now!
5. Fable: The Journey
Fable is one of Xbox 360's only exclusive series, and while there is collective skepticism to accept Fable: The Journey by the core audience, you can be sure their are plenty of people ready to get their hands on this Kinect exclusive. Fable: The Journey will take players back to the magical world of Albion where a looming darkness is once again threatening to overtake the kingdom that is in desperate need of a hero to reclaim the land. The mysterious Theresa has returned to summon a new hero to save the world, and you'll have to utilize all of the magical spells at your disposal to overcome your foes and save Albion. Complete with intricate puzzle design, action packed combat, exciting chase scenes and an intriguing storyline, Fable: The Journey will be one of the best releases for Xbox 360 this year, and quite possibly, the best Kinect title available this holiday season.
4. WWE '13
Last year, publisher THQ and developer Yuke's teamed up to transform the way we looked at wrestling video games with one of the best titles since the Nintendo 64 days. This year, the unstoppable tag team returns to try to once again "revolutionize" the industry with WWE '13. The game will feature the largest roster in the history of WWE video games with a massive collection of current Superstars and 'Attitude Era' wrestlers. The game will allow you to create dream matches featuring stars of yesteryear and current champions in a variety of matches including the recently announced King of the Ring tournament mode and "I Quit" matches. Even bizarre, alternate reality, matches are possible such as the Doctor of Thugonomics (John Cena) and current John Cena taking on the Nation of Domination's Mark Henry and the Mark Henry of now in a dream tag team match. The choices are endless, and the gameplay is phenomenal, so definitely check out WWE '13 when it releases later this month!
3. The Walking Dead: Episode 4--Around Every Corner
The Walking Dead is Telltale Games' defining series as a developer, and as gamers, we can't get enough of it. At $5 a pop, each episode of The Walking Dead is a more than fair deal, and to say we're looking forward to The Walking Dead: Episode 4--Around Every Corner this month would be a severe understatement. The story of Lee and Clementine seems to be evolving at a rapid pace now, and the fallout of last episode's disastrous events could find more than one of our heroes taken out in the constant fight for survival. The gameplay hasn't changed much since the release of the first episode, but Telltale Games is switching up the action just enough to keep fans of the series hooked, and after all, you don't fix what isn't broken. Look for The Walking Dead: Episode 4--Around Every Corner to launch in the next few weeks on Xbox LIVE Arcade!
2. Assassin's Creed III
Developer and publisher Ubisoft's best franchise returns at the end of the month in Assassin's Creed III, but this isn't your older brother's Assassin's Creed! Assassin's Creed III introduces us to a new character named Conner during the year 1775 as the war between Americans and the Red Coats continues in the foreground of the ongoing battle between Assassin and Templar. Conner will have all new enemies to contend with and a harsh environment in which to survive. Making your way through the snow covered forests while hunting your prey, and your meals, is key here, and liberty and freedom must be protected at all costs. Built on the powerful AnvilNext engine, Assassin's Creed III is the best looking game in the series and should be up for game of the year honors for 2012 when all is said and done. Make sure to check out this next great hit from Ubisoft at the end of October!
1. Resident Evil 6
The release of developer and publisher Capcom's Resident Evil 6 is now upon us. Whether you love it, or hate on it in public places and only play the game when your friends aren't looking, everyone needs to pick up a copy of this game starting today. The biggest game of October will see the return of favorite characters from the series' past including Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Sherry Birkin and Ada Wong, and the characters will be featured across a massive four campaigns in one game. Of course, Capcom has overhauled the game's presentation as well, and you'll finally find the ability to shoot while running, run, dive and otherwise shamble into cover, and find the return of zombies here as well. Essentially the game is everything you love and then some rolled into one massive game, and the beloved Mercenaries Mode returns again as well. Make sure to pick up Resident Evil 6 this month, because after all, it wouldn't be Halloween without plenty of zombies lurking about!
