Sadly, there have been no further announcements from Square Enix since last year, but an employee at this year's Tokyo Game Show confirmed the game is still in the works. Square Enix has already stated that the game will be an HD remastered port of the PS2 classic, instead of a full-on remake, however fans are still left wondering whether the Vita will feature the basic version or the international (the latter of which contained optional boss fights, and "Expert" mode, and extra cutscenes to fill the gaps between FFX and FFX-2).

With the current trend in iconic PS2 rpgs coming to handheld consoles (ie: Tales of the Abyss, Metal Gear Solid), fans have kept one ear to the ground for any news.
