Square Enix to Cut Prices on Mobile Games
Most iOS gamers are familiar with Square Enix's games. Final Fantasy
III, Tactics, and now more recently, Dimensions, have been great hits on
the App Store. What's the problem then? The prices are exorbitantly
high. $20 (sometimes $30) for a mobile game is just too high for most
gamers.
While the logic is sound, there are still too many free-to-play games available on the App Store to justify the steep price. Here's hoping the online fan outrage gets some drastic price cuts soon.
Would you buy Final Fantasy Dimensions if its $30 price tag was cut by half?
“$20 for something you can play for 30 or 40 hours is still cheaper than what you can get on a handheld,” said Antony Douglas, the General Manager of Mobile for Square-Enix Europe. “[Square Enix Japan] are trying that and seeing how it works, and it works very well in Japan. [But] they’re seeing the feedback, and there will probably be changes in the way that it’s structured.”
