Nintendo reported a slightly larger loss than previously anticipated for the first six months of their fiscal year. Largely, due to weaker sales of the 3DS overseas, higher appreciation of the Yen, and costs with producing the soon to launch Wii U.
Nintendo lowered profit estimates from $250.6 million to $75.2 million. Despite selling over 5 million 3DS' in the first 6 months of the fiscal year this still fell well short of prior estimates.
Nintendo remains optimistic with the Wii U launching next month along with the Holiday shopping season kicking in. They estimate on selling another 12 million 3DS before the end of the year.
