Features the Wii U Has That You May Have Missed

With the release of a new console the first instinct for many is to jump right into the games. And good on you for thinking that way. It is a gaming console after all! Once you've smashed your share of zombie heads or collected enough coins for thousands of one ups' here's some cool features of the Wii U that have flown under the radar to some.

You can watch Netflix on the Gamepad:

You can stream entire movies and TV shows straight to the Gamepad just the simple tap of the screen during your show. You can even mute the gamepad and plug in a set of headphones if someone else is trying to use the TV in the same room. It's quite the brilliant feature for those that are in a house that doesn't always agree on what to watch!

You can Screenshot any game, at any time and post it to Miiverse.

This is quite possibly my favorite feature on the Wii U. By simple hitting the home button at any point during gameplay and selecting Miiverse you can post what you're currently viewing on the screen directly to that games community page on Miiverse, where others can see that screen shot and make comments of their own.

I've already seen a few hilarious easter eggs from ZombiU on it's fan page and some stunning screen captures from Assassin's Creed. It'll be hard to go back to a platform lacking the ability to do this. There's few feelings like taking a picture of a dozen zombies descending onto you reading the near instant feedback from people then sending in a follow up a few minutes of a dozen dead corpses.

Both for bragging rights and community building this is a fantastic feature and I hope to see other hardware manufacturers make it industry standard.

Deluxe Edition owners get 10% points back on E-Shop purchases

Any purchase the owners of Deluxe Edition bundles make on the E-Shop will get them 10% of their purchase in credits. It sounds complicated but it's rather simple:

Darksiders 2 is $59.99, when you buy it via e-shop you can 599 points back, which is equal to $5.99. The points won't get back to you until sometime next month but it will be retroactive so buy without fear.

There's a fully functional and quite fast web browser

It's about time a console had a fast, clean and functional web browser included at launch. The Wii U web browser loads pages nearly as fast if not faster than most PC clients as well as having the advantage of not worrying about virus' that can plague normal browsers.

If you can get past the fact that some video players don't play nice with the browser this is a great way to avoid carrying your laptop around the house. Or, having to go use the computer for some light browsing in the living room during commercials
