In rather shocking news, the next installment in the Mass Effect franchise is already well into the development process at Bioware's Montreal studio. And, they've officially ditched the Unreal Engine in favor of their inhouse Frostbite engine, the very same that has powered previous Battlefield titles. It was also revealed that Casey Hudson will continue to be the project lead throughout the development of the 4th game.
Fans of the series are probably quite nervous after reading that paragraph, many attribute the ahem “controversial” endings of Mass Effect 3 to the work of Mr. Hudson. Some may also realize that section of EA/Bioware is also responsible for a large portion of work on the latest Dragon Age title as well as the upcoming free-to-play Command and Conquer title.
Personally, I hold out hope for an excellent sequel but with almost no information on the game outside of promises by Casey Hudson who keep in mind, is the same person who said Mass Effect 3 would not end with a simple choose your linear path ending, I'm skeptical. Regardless, keep checking back for news on the 4th title in the epic sci-fi series as it we hear about it.
