The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 Review

The Twilight franchise created a pop culture phenomenon when it released in 2008. Fans around the world became so emotionally attached to the story and the characters that Kristin Stewart and Rob Pattison became household names. As a society, we often like to associate with characters and people who have problems similar to our own. People associated with the young actors and the struggles their characters faced. On screen moments have often been awkward and uncomfortable with the Twilight franchise, making it appear that the actors wanted to run off screen or you may have even thought of running out of the theater. The fact that these actors struggled with themselves just as much as that of their characters gave us all something to relate to.

When we last left the Twilight crew, Bella had turned vampire and given birth to a baby girl named Renesmee. In those moments when Bella died, she no longer was that weak, vulnerable girl we had come to know but reimbodied that of a kick-ass vampire with sweet wrestling moves. Bella wakes to her undead afterlife and feels for the first time she is really alive. It only took dying a painful, horrible death to feel this way. Bella now has sense and abilities like never before with lightning speed, keen senses and the ability to move at an incredible speed.

We are introduced to the first of many terrible CGI effects as we join Bella and Edward for her first hunt for animal blood. The effects only get worse when she meets her beautiful baby for the first time who has the head that is the size of a balloon. Bella was unaware that Jacob had imprinted on her child to protect her and a silly slap fast between the two begin. Finally, the love triangle has ended with Bella and Edward completely devoted to each other. Thank goodness for this!

The movie progresses and we slowly watch baby Renesmee grow at a substantial rate. Before we can even get 20 minutes into the film, Renesmee is already a 8-year old child. You almost feel like you are watching The Curious Case of Bejamin Button for a minute. Renesmee has her own special abilities which allow her to touch an individual and reveal the truth to them. This is one little girl that you won't be able to tell a few white lies to and get away with it. Renesmee also has one other ability which allows her to float mid-air which is extremely helpful when you want to catch snowflakes apparently. When she is spotted using her abilities it is assumed she has been turned into one of the undead which under vampire law is illegal.

We now have the Volturi believing that the Cullens have turned a child into a vampire and set out out on a mission to kill them all. If you thought the previous movies were bad or in any way a bore then Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will be a beautiful surprise for you. The moments that follow are so incredibly awe-inspiring that you will be completely taken by surprise. The movie finally goes from a emo tween romance story to a kick-ass action flick that is full of exhilarating content and depth. This is where I will end this review because to tell you anymore would ruin the entire film.

The Twilight series may have started as a horrible mess but it finishes with an unforgettable bang. Bella may not have been a great role model while she was still alive, but dying brought a whole new breath of life into the film series, as well as her character. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 is a metaphor about the struggles within all of us and how sometimes we can be reborn when we least expect it.

Overall: Must See
