Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze (Video Game Review)

Monster High is a special line of dolls from toy line Mattel that was released back in July 2010 and has since spawned one of the most popular animated series around and plenty of special dolls, comics, books and other merchandise as the brand continues to grow. The hit show follows a group of monster teenagers, based on some of most notorious creatures of all-time, as they face the ups and downs of growing up and attending high school in today's generation. The show itself has had many special spinoffs including the highly successful Monster High: Friday Night Frights and the popular Skultimate Roller Maze series of dolls based on the television special. Now, developer Little Orbit and publisher Majesco have brought the world Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze the game, and its sure to be on every little BioGamer Girl's Christmas list this year, so listen up!

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze
follows the storyline of the after school special closely; the students of Monster High learn about an annual tournament called the Skultimate Roller Maze that the boy's team lost to rival Granite City. The girls begin their rigorous training for the tournament despite the boy's hesitation to welcome to the sport they believe should only be for boys. Soon, the boys join back in on the fun , and it will always be a hectic race to the finish line where only one character can be declared the winner. Characters in the game include many of the favorites from the show such as Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf, Lagoona Blue, Frankie Stein, Gil, Clawd Wolfe, Rochelle Goyle, Robecca Steam, Operetta, Heath Burns and Abbey Bominable. Fans of the show will love playing through the game, while most hardcore gamers will surely want to pass this one up.

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze isn't unlike similar racing titles such as the Mario Kart series, but this new release is definitely aimed at the same target audience as the dolls and show. You'll find plenty of hidden items and strong powerups to unleash on your fellow racers as you make your way around the track all while aiming for the highest time possible. Each of the game's playable characters will come with their own unique abilities in the game, and there are plenty of customization options for the game's characters that will affect the way they race in-game as well as change their appearance. Of course, there are plenty of racetracks inspired from the show including Monster High School, Monster High Stadium, Granite City, Gloom Beach, Scaris and Skull Shores, and each map will need to be approached a little differently to adapt to the obstacles and shape of the track. Once you've completed the main storyline of Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze, you can still compete for the fastest laps in time trials mode or enjoy some rocking multiplayer action as well.

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze is available for Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS at the moment, and each offer a unique way to play the game. The Wii version makes a great game for kids to play during sleepovers and slumber parties with friends in multiplayer sessions and responsive motion controls, while the handheld version uses both screens to give you additional information on the HUD and nice touch screen options. Then for an ever greater challenge, you can kick up the difficulty of the game to show off what you've learned so far. No matter how you play Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze, you're sure to enjoy it if you're a fan of the show or even a young, casual gamer that enjoys simple, family friendly titles. Check out Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze, and you may just be surprised at how fun the game really is.

Buffet Bliss or Southern Swing-and-a-Miss? A Bite at Kacey’s in Huntsville

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...

Step Back in Time at Ole Towne Café in Ardmore

If you’ve ever wished you could step into your grandma’s kitchen and smell fresh biscuits baking while bacon sizzles in the skillet, Ole Towne Café in Ardmore, Alabama, is the next best thing. Tucked along Main Street, this little diner doesn’t just serve food—it serves nostalgia. Walking in, you’re greeted with that small-town charm you just can’t fake. The walls are lined with country décor, the coffee flows like a friendly neighbor’s gossip, and everyone seems to know everyone else. Even if you’re new in town, you’ll feel like family after your first cup of coffee. The menu is straight out of a Southern comfort cookbook. The catfish plates are fried to crispy perfection, the hamburger steaks come smothered in gravy that tastes like Sunday supper, and the breakfast plates are legendary—big fluffy pancakes, biscuits as big as your hand, and hash browns that come golden and crispy.
