2K Sports Announces MLB 2K13 Release Date, Cover Athlete and New Perfect Game Contest

Developer and publisher 2K Sports has announced brand new details for their upcoming release of MLB 2K13. The company will place Tampa Bay Rays and Cy Young award winner David Price on the cover of the newest release after he beat out the Detroit Tigers' Justin Verlander for the honor. To stay with the pitching theme, 2K Sports also announced they will be bringing back The Perfect Game Challenge for the fourth consecutive year. The company promised the contest would be a little different this time around, but full details have yet to be revealed. What we do know is that players will be eligible for the contest by purchasing the new release when it arrives on March 5, 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with $1 million up for grabs. "We'd like to thank our league partners for their support in helping us reach an agreement to bring back MLB 2K," said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. "We know fans are extremely passionate about the MLB 2K series and the Perfect Game Challenge."

"It's a dream come true to appear on the cover of MLB 2K13," concluded Price, who helped lead the Rays to their fourth 90-win season in the last five years. "I'm looking forward to working with the 2K Sports team again, and welcoming another skilled gamer into 'The Perfect Club.'"

MLB 2K13 is now available for preorder from most major retailers for the MSRP of $59.99 and is scheduled to release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 5, 2013. MLB 2K13 is rated E by the ESRB. For more information on the game, check out the official MLB 2K13 website.
