NCSOFT Gains Licensing Rights to Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4
Well known MMORPG developer NCSOFT has acquired the right to utilize Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 in upcoming projects with a new licensing agreement. The developer has worked together with Epic Games before with the release of Lineage II that was built on Unreal Engine 2 and still has quite a large fan base a decade after its initial release. Following the success of Lineage II, NCSOFT released another hit title with Blade & Soul built on Unreal Engine 3, which received top honors for best graphics, sound design and character design at the 2012 Korean Game Awards. Only time will tell what NCSOFT will create with the licensing rights to Unreal Engine 4, but you can read on right now to learn more about this new partnership of video game developers.
“Unreal Engine 4 is an extremely fascinating game engine in terms of its unprecedented efficiency and performance,” said James Bae, chief product officer of NCSOFT. “We plan to release our best game ever using our Unreal Engine expertise and the new state-of-the-art Unreal Engine 4 tools.”
