Event Report: MTAC 2013 Brings The Devil’s Dozen To Nashville

MTAC was established in 1999 and has been bringing fans together across genres every since. MTAC took over the Nashville Convention Center this year from March 29-31 and was the 13th Annual Event cleverly titled "The Devil's Dozen." Thousands of fans from around the U.S. gathered in one location for the event of the year to celebrate the occult and popular anime culture. Cosplayers presented their best costumes alongside an impressive celebrity lineup, panels, events, vendors and out of this world contests.

Celebrity guests included: Chris Cason (Gluttony from "Fullmetal Alchemist", Tien and Mr. Popo from "Dragonball Z"), Jamie Marchi (Panty from "Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt"), Brittney Karbowski (Black Star from "Soul Eater"), and many more. Attendees got a deal with the event being a mere $30 for three days of entertainment and fun. Some of the major events at the festival included the Cosplay Contest, Ramen Eating Contest, Rave, Bebop Bar Crawl, Lolita Tea Party, Risque Cosplay Contest, J-Fashion Show and the MTAC's Got Talent competition.

Upon arriving to the event, we noticed that it was well-organized with a friendly group of staff and volunteers. We were handed a map of the convention center with all of the information for finding where we needed to go alongside the event's line-up of panels and activities. The event had over 9,000 attendees who were the most enthusiastic group of fans that we had ever seen. In between all the fun activities--fans decided to create their own activities in the halls which included dancing and role-playing. A big thing that we noticed as well is that almost 80% of the attendees had impressive and well-constructed costumes compared to the average 10-15% at other events we have covered. If you are a cosplayer, then this was the event to attend!

The festival's panels were very informative and entertaining with fans being able to personally sit down with some of the best professionals in the industry. The event contained amazing tracks for attendees of all ages and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the kid-friendly ones especially the music track. Adults could also let their hair down at the late night programming for individuals 18+ with events inspired by Anime culture and fandom.

All in all, MTAC is a great event that can be enjoyed and afforded by fans of all ages. If you haven't checked it out then make sure to visit the official MTAC website. Also like MTAC on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus as well!

Overall: Must Attend
