General Jackson Showboat (Attraction Review)

From the moment you lay eyes on the beautiful General Jackson riverboat, you know you're in for a special night with your loved ones. The boat manages to stand out as a major attraction based on the Cumberland River with a stunning backdrop of downtown Nashville, Tennessee backing it. It's a stunning site take in, and the boat lights up the river at night for an even more awe inspiring view for onlookers and passengers onboard. General Jackson is home to some of the best food and entertainment in the city as well. Vacationers can be sure to visit the General Jackson when visiting Nashville for a fun time, great music and a nice helping of southern hospitality.

Midday and evening events occur different days throughout the week onboard the General Jackson, and a variety of entertainment is provided with each trip. Some cruises will feature absorbing country music performances on stage, while others will tickle your funny bone with comedy shows. The friendly staff of the General Jackson will welcome you with a kind greeting and a smile once you've boarded the ship, and you soon feel right at home while eating plenty of delicious food. I was personally able to enjoy some tasty broiled eye round, tiger shrimp, buttered green beans and roasted garlic mashed potatoes, while my daughter was pleased with the quality of the appetizers before dinner, as well as the delectable New York style cheese cake for dessert.

There is plenty to enjoy and see onboard General Jackson besides the fun performances and great food as well. Once you've had your full of the singing, dancing and food, you can head outside to take in the scenic view of the Nashville skyline or look at the beautiful river view during the day. The gift shop remains open the whole cruise for shopping and there is also a lounge where you can enjoy watching your favorite sports game while having a drink. There are seats available on deck to take in the scenery in comfort once you've walked around the General Jackson and studied all of the historic facts of the boat that was originally built 1985 as a replica of the 1817 steamboat of the same name. There is plenty of history for this boat, and discovering the different legends of the boat is only half the fun!

General Jackson provides both midday and evening cruises at affordable prices that includes access to a wonderful buffet full of main entrees, salad and desserts as well as charming performances happening on the main stage of the dining hall during the event. General Jackson is also a fantastic choice for special events including weddings, holidays, private cruises, group vacations and more with special accommodations for all visitors. You can learn more and purchase your tickets for upcoming events by visiting the official General Jackson website and enjoy the best short cruise you'll experience all year.

Overall: Must Visit
Family Friendly Attraction

Jackson County Fair in Scottsboro, Alabama (Event Review)

The Jackson County Fair has invaded Scottsboro, Alabama for the week of October 7-11, 2014, but the event may be a waste of money for some.  The fair was the 79th annual showing and was presented by Kissel Entertainment. The event featured rides, exhibits, games and great (yet too expensive) food for attendees at the show. Families could have enjoyed a great time at the fair grounds, but the event wasn't cheap and it didn't feature some of the more prominent attractions like one would find at larger, state fairs and carnivals. The turn out very low in Scottsboro though, and many would think that this would make it easier to enjoy the event but not even small lines could help make the Jackson County event fun. The Jackson County Fair had over a dozen rides for all age groups. The fair's massive Ferris Wheel towered high in the sky and helped light up the event, while the Moby Dick ride and Gravitron also looked fearsome and stood tall even from a distance. Plenty of ...
