The Behemoth Explains the Creation of Opening Cinematic for BattleBlock Theater

The Behemoth recently released BattleBlock Theater exclusively for Xbox LIVE Arcade with great success. Both critics and gamers could appreciate the game's creative gameplay as well as the hilarious storyline and commentary that keeps players laughing the whole way through. The Behemoth discussed the creation of the game's opening cinematic that both established the game's bizarre plot and set a funny tone that would carry through the rest of the game. The game's opening cinematic evolved many times during the development of BattleBlock Theater with Dan and Will Stamper creating and narrating the storylines for each of the game's storyline. The team then brought back Derek Lieu, who first worked together with The Behemoth to create a video for the limited edition Necromancer figurine for Kickstarter, to create a new BattleBlock Theater opening cinematic to rule them all! You can see how the scene changed over the years by looking first at the 2011 version and the final version in the two trailers below. Special software allowed the team to add in more characters and dramatically change major parts of the scene as countless friends were flung from the ship stuck in the middle of a terrible sea storm. To learn more about the creation of the game's opening cinematic, you can visit the official BattleBlock Theater website or play the game on Xbox LIVE Arcade today!

BattleBlock Theater is now available exclusively for Xbox LIVE Arcade and can be purchased for 1200 Microsoft Points. BattleBlock Theater is rated T by the ESRB for Blood, Crude Humor and Violence. For more information on the game, check out the official BattleBlock Theater website.
