E3 2013: Square Enix Reveals That Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Coming To PS4 and Announces Kingdom Hearts III Alongside Final Fantasy XV

At today's E3, Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be coming to PlayStation 4 in 2014.  The company has also announced that it is working to make the transition go smoothly for those who purchase the game on PS3 to transfer the game to PS4. Another great surprise from today's press conference was the announcement of Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV which are in development for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is in development for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, and is due to release in 2014.

We are currently in talks with Sony Computer Entertainment to ensure that players who purchase the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be able to smoothly transition their game accounts to the PS4 version upon its release.

“The heart of everything we’re working towards is enabling players and their friends to experience their own rich Final Fantasy adventure,” said Naoki Yoshida, producer and director. ”The deeply integrated social capabilities of the PS4 will make it a natural home for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. The team and I are thrilled to continue our adventure on the next generation gaming platform, and we hope that you’ll join us!”

The PlayStation®3 system and Windows PC versions will enter the third phase of beta testing on Friday, June 14th, and are due for global release on August 27th. A free 30-day trial is also included for new accounts, with monthly subscriptions starting at $12.99.

Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) visitors are invited to demo FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn at the Square Enix booth (South Hall #1647).

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn will be available for the $39.99 on the PlayStation 3 system and $29.99 for Windows PC. The Collector’s Edition will be available for $79.99 on the PlayStation 3 system and the PC version will be sold exclusively at the Square Enix Online Store for $69.99. FINAL FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is rated T (Teen).



KINGDOM HEARTS III features a mature Sora as the main protagonist who sets forth on an adventure with Mickey, Donald and Goofy through new and legendary Disney worlds. KINGDOM HEARTS III will make full use of next generation console technologies to showcase a stunning universe packed full of worlds based on Disney properties.

Believing light and darkness must remain in balance, Master Xehanort seeks to spark war against the ‘tyranny of light’ to restore equilibrium.

In an effort to undermine Xehanort’s plot, Sora, Donald and Goofy search for seven guardians of light and the “Key to Return Hearts,” while King Mickey and Riku search for previous Keyblade wielders.

KINGDOM HEARTS III will be available for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft. KINGDOM HEARTS III is not yet rated.



Previously known as FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII, the title’s development expanded and evolved to take full advantage of the capabilities of next generation platforms. While the main concept, world and story continue to be developed as originally envisioned, the First Production Development Team has further improved FINAL FANTASY XV’s action, gameplay elements and graphic quality to match the technology of the next generation hardware, as well as the expectations of players eagerly awaiting the game’s release.

The armed forces of Niflheim launch a devastating assault upon the Kingdom of Lucis, casting Crown Prince Noctis and his comrades out of their homes and into the fray. The engaging tale to follow draws audiences into an awe-inspiring world steeped in the rich storytelling traditions of SQUARE ENIX’s renowned First Production Development team.
