Developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision shocked the world when they announced a brand new entry into the Call of Duty franchise when the team announced Call of Duty: Ghosts rather than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, as many had predicted. The new game will feature a brand new storyline with new characters in new settings built on a completely different engine just released by the team behind the highly popular series. Fans who can't wait to get their hands on the game in the Fall were given a special treat when new gameplay footage taken from the upcoming game was presented in a pre-E3 event live over the Internet yesterday, and you can now relive the event, live in the video below.
Fans were treated to new footage taken from Call of Duty: Ghosts featuring the campaign levels "Into the Deep" and "No Man's Land." The first stage took players underwater for one of the most realistic missions ever featured in a Call of Duty game complete with fully interactive marine life and plenty of action packed sequences. Players also got to visit a city recovering in the aftermath of a catastrophic event that left the area in rubble with eerie realism brought to life by the writing of Academy Award winner Stephen Gaghan. New details also emerged for the character's main companion throughout the game who walks on four legs and goes by the name of Riley. You can see all of this and more revealed in the trailer below and read on for more exciting details on Call of Duty: Ghosts as we head into E3 week!
"Every year our team puts on an amazing production to showcase our games at E3, a spectacle that delivers an epic, immersive experience that takes your breath away. Yet all our fans aren't able to be here and share in the moment," said Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg. "So, since our fans can't come to E3, we're bringing E3 to them. This year we're making sure the Call of Duty community is first in line to see Call of Duty: Ghosts as we kick-off what's going to be a historic week."
"Our new tech is allowing us to deliver an absolutely stunning next generation Call of Duty experience on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but that's not all. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will reap the benefits of our new tech as well, which we believe will make this the most striking Call of Duty game ever created, regardless of what platform our fans choose," said Infinity Ward, executive producer, Mark Rubin.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is now available for preorder for the MSRP of $59.99 and is scheduled to release for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on November 5, 2013. Call of Duty: Ghosts is not yet rated. For more information on the game, check out the official Call of Duty: Ghosts website.
