There are many different characters in State of Decay, and you can take on the role of the game's different characters throughout the game or call them in to help with a mission. There are plenty of missions spread across the game, but there is always the most important goal of finding and building up the best shelters to keep out the undead and recruit new survivors to help rebuild civilization. Though the game is single player, you're rarely alone, and watching character progression is often dramatic and entreating enough to make you care about what happens to the characters. Many of the game's early missions has you and a friend heading out looking for supplies, and even simple missions such as these provide some good thrills of their own.

We've been enamored with what we've seen in the game so far and would encourage all zombie fans to run out and immediately purchase this game. The game costs a bit more than your typical downloadable title, but State of Decay isn't your average downloadable game and is packed with plenty of content that makes it worth your time and money. With a huge open world to explore and plenty of reasons to keep playing, State of Decay is shaping up to be one of the best zombie games we've seen in years.
