Voxer Now Available For Windows Phone

Voxer has launched today for Windows Phone and is the only worldwide app that turns push-to-talk voices messages into recordings that can be played back later. The release on Windows Phone brings tons of new features that weren't previously available such as the ability to favorite a chat. Windows Phone users can expect to get Voxer Pro for their phone sometime next year. Read on to learn more or download the new app today!

From the Press Release
Voxer, the leader in live push-to-talk and multimedia-messaging tools, today launched Voxer for Windows Phone at Microsoft’s annual developer conference, Build 2013. Voxer is the only worldwide app where every push-to-talk voice message is simultaneously live and recorded, with voice messages stored in a single interface alongside text, photo and location for convenient playback at the user’s convenience. Voxer launched as a free consumer application in 2011 on iOS and Android, and has grown virally to tens of millions of users around the world.

“We are excited to bring Voxer to millions of Windows Phone users,” said Tom Katis, Founder and CEO, Voxer. “Windows Phone is a very important platform to be a part of, and with this launch, Voxer now enables people around the world to communicate across the top three mobile operating systems like never before.”

“Today marks another great addition to the growing Windows Phone ecosystem, with the introduction of Voxer,” said Bryan Biniak, VP & GM Global Partner & Application Development, Nokia. “The Voxer team built a new version of the app to take advantage of the unique Windows Phone user interface, such as pivot views and Live Tiles, offering Nokia Lumia customers worldwide the best Voxer experience on any smartphone.”

Voxer on Windows Phone 8 will include exclusive features that are not currently available in the iOS or Android versions of the app. These include pinning Voxer to the Windows Start menu, seeing the latest voxes as they come in on Live Tiles, Favoriting a chat on the new Favorites screen in-app, and seeing new, all and group messages quickly with a new message filter feature.

“Apps come to life on Windows Phone thanks to features like Live Tiles and lock screen notifications,” said Todd Brix, general manager, Windows Phone Apps, Microsoft Corp. “Voxer is a great example of the kind of popular, rich applications that people will find on Windows Phone Store to get the most out of their phone.”

According to a Q1 2013 report from IDC, with its launch on Windows Phone 8 Voxer is now available on 95 percent of smartphones worldwide. Katis developed the concept for the app in 2007 after he saw the need for instantaneous communication that could also be recorded and accessed at a user’s leisure, unlike most forms of communication that interrupt users and don’t record live messages.

Since its launch, Voxer has enjoyed massive organic growth worldwide by being platform and carrier agnostic, and has remained one of the top 100 social networking apps in the App Store and Google Play, as well as being the 13th most downloaded app in the App Store in 2012. The app’s success stems from its ability to seamlessly combine voice, text and photo messaging, making communication for people around the world easier and more efficient. Unlike other voice messaging services, Voxer isn’t restricted by traditional cellular services, operating on any Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G, 4G or Edge network worldwide. This feature has allowed the app to thrive in the U.S. as well as many international communities.

Voxer Pro and Voxer Pro, for Business – which were announced earlier this week www.voxer.com – will be available on Windows Phone later this year. You can download the new Voxer app for your Windows Phone here.
