The official novelization for the action-packed movie Pacific Rim (read our review here) is now available from Titan Books. Pacific Rim's screenplay was written by Travis Beacham (read our interview here) and directed by Guillermo del Toro which follows the story of large creatures known as Kaiju. Pacific Rim: The Official Novelization is the perfect companion piece to the blockbuster film, because it offers an interesting and immersive story that was almost completely left out of the movie. Pacific Rim: The Official Novelization tells the story of the Kaiju who have risen from the sea which is followed by a massive war. The event was detrimental for the human population since it depleted many of the earth's natural resources along with millions of innocent lives. Humans fought back by developing giant robots called Jaegers which are operated by two pilots connected through neural bridges. However, even the Jaegers offer little defense against the brute force of the Kaiju.
The human race becomes almost desperate and enlists the help of two unlikely heroes, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi. The duo must take control of a older Jaeger in the last chance to survive. Pacific Rim: The Official Novelization really is better than the film because nothing is left out and the reader doesn't feel cheated when it comes to crucial information. Whereas the movie is all action and no story.
Alex Irvine puts an explicitly large amount of detail into the story which manages to keep the reader hooked all the way to the end. Pacific Rim: The Official Novelization is a must-read and its immersive story will give you everything that the film does not. The book is perfectly paced and will get you even more excited for the amazing visuals and action-packed sequences of the movie. If you haven’t seen the movie, you should definitely pick up Pacific Rim: The Official Novelization before you do, because it is the only way to get a detailed version of the story which the movie skimps on for more 3D action.
