Castle of Illusion Remake Gets Official Release Date

SEGA and Disney are teaming up to remake the classic platformer Castle of Illusion for current generation consoles, and today, the impending release has finally been dated. Fans will be able to download Castle of Illusion beginning on September 4, 2013 for PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC for $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points. The team also announced players could receive exclusive preorder incentives on PlayStation Network that includes a dynamic theme, three avatars and an emulated version of the original Mega Drive game for ordering after August 21, 2013.

A new behind the scenes trailer has also been released for the game that discusses remaking one of the best-selling games of all-time while still managing to capture the magic of Disney and its star character, Mickey Mouse. The game is still largely inspired by the original release, but the new Castle of Illusion will feature completely redone HD graphics and many other new features, as Mickey battles to save Minnie from the inside of the mysterious Castle of Illusion. Castle of Illusion is scheduled to release for PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC on September 4, 2013 and can be purchased for $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points.
