First Chapter of The Silver Gymnasium Now Available

Did you love the 1980s era of gaming and the exquisite music that accompanied it? Well then you need to check out the album for the first chapter of "The Silver Gymnasium" by Okkervil River and the great text written by Sheff and Miles.  Read on to learn more.

From the Press Release
Okkervil River's new album 'The Silver Gymnasium' was inspired by Will Sheff's childhood in the 1980s - the era of video games like Leisure Suit Larry, Maniac Mansion, and King's Quest. To pay homage to those early games, Sheff created his own online adventure game in partnership with Eyes And Ears' Benjamin Miles.

For the soundtrack, Sheff composed and performed chiptune versions of songs from the album - including "Down Down the Deep River," "Lido Pier Suicide Car," "It Was My Season," and "Black Nemo"- and did the game's sound design. Text within the game was written by Sheff and Miles.

This first chapter just launched, with more chapters coming every two weeks. Play it here (and beware the spooky graveyard): http://www.thesilvergymnasium.com

'The Silver Gymnasium' comes out 9/3 on ATO Records.
