Lost Planet 3 Soundtrack Available August 27th

Capcom will release Lost Planet 3 (check out our interview with William Watterson who plays Jim Peyton here) on August 27th and fans will be able to pick up the game's official soundtrack at that time as well. Award-winning composer Jack Wall scored the amazing soundtrack which will be presented in two volumes. Read on to learn more.

From the Press Release
Award-winning composer Jack Wall will release the soundtrack for Capcom's sci-fi action adventure video game Lost Planet® 3 on his label, Lost In Sound Records. Wall is best known for his rich, cinematic scores found within popular titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Myst III & IV, Splinter Cell: Pandora's Tomorrow and Jade Empire. Featuring 37 tracks composed and produced by Wall, the Lost Planet 3 Original Soundtrack comprises two volumes, 'Alien Country Music' and 'Score', which will be released as a single package for digital download on iTunes and Amazon to coincide with the game's release on August 27, 2013.

The Lost Planet 3 Original Soundtrack is presented in two volumes to reflect the distinct musical approaches for the game's soundtrack. Volume 1 features country and rock instrumentation combined with organic drum and percussion elements, infused with modern synthetic elements to create a country music of the future.

"When Spark and Capcom asked me to write alien country as roughly half of the soundtrack to Lost Planet 3, I was really intrigued," enthuses Jack Wall. "It would be the main character's mix tape. This is the music Jim Peyton listens to when he's on mission in his rig - the music his wife Grace, back on Earth, sends him to remind him of home. The challenge was to make it real, but add just enough elements and context to make it seem like it is music from the future."

As well as composing and producing the Alien Country Music, Wall performs acoustic, baritone and electric guitars on all the tracks. Joining him on this unique sci-fi musical adventure, Wall formed and recorded a band of celebrated artists including composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica) on accordion, guitarist Craig Stull (Firefly) on dobro guitar, drummer Joe Travers (Zappa Plays Zappa), vocalist Cindy Shapiro (Myst III: Exile), and cinema's foremost harmonica player, Tommy Morgan, amongst other talented musicians. Key tracks include: "Rattlesnake," "A Long Way Home," "Ballad of Jim Peyton," and "Outlaw."

Presented as Volume 2, Wall's cinematic score is a blend of sci-fi orchestral and acoustic themes, spine-tingling atmosphere, and synthesized ambient textures, which serves to support the game's compelling narrative, mysterious environments and epic action sequences. Key tracks include: "Lost Planet 3 Theme," "The Ice Planet," "The Vorgg," and "The Forgotten."

"For me the score needed to be two things: mysterious and wild," explains Wall. "If I could inject those ideas into the music for E.D.N III, I would be doing my job. I'm very excited by what we've put together for players. The script, acting and story seamlessly intertwine with this music to create a tangible world."

The Lost Planet 3 soundtrack is available for digital download through Lost In Sound Records on August 27.
