Skylanders Giants Figures Topples Colossal Records for Video Games and Toys Industries

Activision Publishing announced today the sales figures for their recently released hit, Skylanders Giants. The figures showed the game has outsold all action figures in the United States and Europe since the game was released in 2012 and that the Skylanders series has outpaced all other toy properties in the UK as of June 30, 2013.

The figures also showed the entire Skylanders franchise has made more than $1.5 billion in worldwide retail sales since its release a couple of years back. Skylanders Giants was also the best-selling console handheld title in overall dollars for North America and Europe since its release. “We began something very special with Skylanders, and the magic of bringing toys to life through a video game,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing. “But it’s not just about the game. We know the toys have to be just as creative and imaginative as the kids that play with them, and that’s why we’re so excited to bring even more innovations to this genre when Skylanders SWAP Force comes out in October.”

Skylanders SWAP Force is now available for preorder from most major retailers for the MSRP of $74.99 and is scheduled to release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS on October 13, 2013.
