Spelunky Returns to PC on Steam and GOG Starting Today

Developer Derek Yu and his company Mossmouth have announced the return of their hit game Spelunky for PC on Steam and GOG. The difficult platformers originally debuted as a free-to-play title on PC before exclusively releasing an HD version of the game for Xbox LIVE Arcade. Now the game is available for Steam for $14.99 with all the features of the original Xbox 360 release (including DLC) with bonus features as well.

Spelunky for Steam introduces the Daily Challenge mode where players all receive the same randomly generated map with one life to attempt to gather as much gold and go as far as possible into the game before dying. The Daily Challenge mode will have its own leaderboards that measure how well players have done on the day's challenge as well as an overall leaderboard that averages all Daily Challenge scores together. PC players will also receive Steam Trading Card support, Achievements and the bonus DLC characters and arenas later added to the XBLA version of the game for free, with DLC characters unlocked randomly throughout the game. Plans to add the Daily Challenge to the Xbox LIVE Arcade have not been discussed. Check out the new release of Spelunky for Steam today!

Spelunky is now available for PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC via Steam and GOG and can be purchased for 1200 Microsoft Points or $14.99. Spelunky is rated T by the ESRB for Blood, Crude Humor & Violence. For more information on the game, check out the official Spelunky website.
