Exclusive Interview: Danny Trejo and Robert Rodriguez Talk Machete Kills

Machete Kills will release in theaters on October 11th. The film will be directed by Robert Rodriguez and star Danny Trejo, Alex Vega, Mel Gibson and Jessica Alba. The plot this time around is that the U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space. We recently got a few minutes with actor Danny Trejo and director Robert Rodriguez to get a little backstory on the Machete series and what the future holds for Trejo after Machete Kills. Read on.

In a recent interview with director Robert Rodriguez and actor Danny Trejo we learned that the idea for Machete originally originated after the duo had completed Desperado. Danny Trejo also boasted that one of the best aspects of working on Machete was the chance to kiss Jessica Alba. Fans got a taste of Machete in Spy Kids where they got a fake Machete trailer which led to everyone wanting to actually see the movie after the teaser. Now speed up to Machete Kills where Danny Trejo is now an icon thanks to the film series, and Danny admits it has changed his life. "People will always remember me for Machete and currently its the only thing others seem to know me for," says Trejo. From Dusk Till Dawn will always be the movie I know Danny for, but we get what he is saying. Where does Trejo go after Machete Kills? Well, Robert summed it up best with, "Anything is possible for Trejo." And we agree. So will there be a Machete 3 and what will it be like? Well Rodriguez says "that is all left up to the audience."
