From the Press Release
Name It!, a fast-paced game that challenges players to recognize abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols, is coming to the App Store in late October.
Name It! is the first game of its kind to challenge players to show how many commonly used abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols (“AASs”) they can recognize. But that’s just the beginning! Once a player matches each clue with its correct abbreviation, acronym, or symbol, the AASs are dragged into different categories. Players then choose one of the AASs on their board and answer a minimum of 10 questions on it and the topic it represents. Sometimes a question introduces a related or “bridge” AAS; if a player answers it correctly, it too will be added to the game board! So you may be answering questions on YOLO (“You Only Live Once”) and see a question on BASE-jumping. Or you may be answering questions on DNA and see a question on RNA. Every game contains several of these bridge questions, but you never know when they’ll appear! Players need to try to add these bridge AASs to their boards and play them, because correct answers are worth double points.
Players can continue playing the AASs on their board until it's empty, or they can quit and continue playing later. Some questions are harder than others, but that’s part of the fun. Players who beat the clock earn bonus points! Along the way, players can press the Learn More button to access interesting information related to the questions. During the lightning round, players must decide if each of 10 new clues matches the AAS it’s paired with.
Name It! takes advantage of our increasing reliance on this shorthand language and transforms it into an entertaining and challenging game for players of all ages. Players who can answer questions on a wide range of AASs and their topics have the best chance of scoring a lot of points, because Name It! is The Answer to Triviality.
