The Denver Broncos traveled to Indianapolis to take on the Colts in primetime Sunday Night Football last night, and the game marked the first time future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning returned to face the team he had previously spent the majority of his record-breaking career playing for. The iconic NFL matchup was one of the most watched sporting events for the entire year of 2013, and in fact, the game set a record for the most watched primetime overnight game for the month of October in 15 years with a 17.3 overnight rating and 29 share.
The previous record was held by a Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers game from the 1998 season that posted a 17.5 overnight rating and saw Randall Cunningham throw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns to down Brett Favre's Packers. The Broncos and Colts game showed a 48% increase from an 11.7 overnight rating posted by last year's Week 7 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinatti Bengals.
