Trick 'R Treat 2 Announced in Early Development

A special Trick 'R Treat screening last night led way to a huge announcement from the film's creator, Michael Dougherty. The writer and director of the film held a special panel after the film was complete to talk about the film, but before the night was over, the star of the film showed up to make a special birthday wish for a sequel to his film. Sam got his wish when the title screen for Trick 'R Treat 2 was revealed on the big screen behind the panel.

Few details were given on the upcoming film, but EW has already landed an exclusive interview with Dougherty where he explains some early ideas and thoughts on the film including how he hopes to make the story include a brief history on the character of Sam and how he became the little monster guardian of Halloween in the first place. He also mentioned hopes of getting the film into theaters this time around, though there is no such deal in place as of yet. Look for more details on Trick 'R Treat 2 in the near future.
