Two giant robots enter a stadium.Behind their controls, hackers furiously input the code that controls each bots’ movements. By the time it’s over, one pilot and robot while the other lies broken in the rubble. This isn’t the plot of the next big budget sci-fi movie -this is the app game Hakitzu Elite: Robot Hackers. The bigger surprise is that the developers behind the virtual wheel of these massive machines are kids as young as 7 all over the world learning JavaScript programming skills during this year’s Computer Science Week.
With this soon to be released update, Hakitzu Elite players can move to the next level in their coding skills with the introduction of four different styles-from simple code recognition “tap and play” to inputting the code itself from memory with the custom-built coding keyboard. With more advanced coding skills and styles, players can earn more points to upgrade their Codewalkers’ and earn more achievements on the battlefield as they utilize more advanced coding skills. With this release the app is now free to play for both iOS and Android,plus the game now features a new tutorial system that teaches the game while simultaneously putting users through a coding bootcamp. Facebook and Gamecenter integration allows players to compete with their friend lists and compare ranks.
