From the Press Release
Extreme Reality, the only company to provide 3D human body motion control and analysis software that functions via a standard camera, today announced that Sky Hero, an iPad game where players use their motion to navigate through a series of perilous obstacles, has won the grand prize in the Extreme iPad Challenge 2013. The contest was open for developers to create new or to modify existing games -- integrating new technology that enables players to enjoy on an iPad a similar motion control experience as with today’s console based games.

As the grand prize winner, the developer of Sky Hero, KoKonut Studio will receive $10,000, a consultation with Electronic Arts Founder Trip Hawkins, promotion of the game through Extreme Reality’s marketing programs, and unlimited free use of Extreme Reality’s Extreme Motion – the technology enabling full body motion control on iPads. The second place winner, Space Evader Xtreme by Mobro Software, will receive a $6,000 prize, and the third place winner, Cold Fusion Hands by Yosun, will receive a $3,000 prize. All games that participated in the challenge will receive unlimited free use of Extreme Reality’s Extreme Motion technology in perpetuity for the game they entered into the contest.

Out of 60 entrants, the winners were chosen from five finalists that qualified for the last round of judging. The criteria included: the best utilization of the Extreme Motion SDK to enhance the game experience; graphics and audio; gameplay; appeal; polish; and, usability. Contest finalists included:

  • Sky Hero
  • Space Evader Xtreme
  • Cold Fusion Hands
  • MCTMG-Motion Control Tile Matching Game
  • Fit Posing

“We were impressed with the level of energy and talent we saw from developers that unleashed their creativity to integrate motion experiences into iPad games,” said Sarit Firon, CEO of Extreme Reality. “Each of the participants produced fun, quality games that leverage the two hottest trends in gaming -- motion control and mobility.”

In addition to the judge’s top three winners, a “People’s Choice” winner was determined by popular vote and awarded to Space Evader Extreme. The game’s developer, Mobro Software Ltd., will receive a MacBook Air.
