Diamond Fortress Technologies Unveils The New ICE Unlock App

Diamond Fortress Technologies has announced their new touchless biometric solution entitled ICE Unlock. The app allows users to unlock their Android device by simply using their fingerprint to make sure that your devices is secure and safe. Read on to learn more.

From the Press Release
Diamond Fortress Technologies (DFT) today launched ICE Unlock, the first app that unlocks an Android device via the user’s fingerprint. A touchless™ biometric solution, ICE Unlock utilizes the device’s camera and complex mathematics to create a high quality map of your fingerprint and verify your identity. ICE Unlock does not store a picture of your fingerprint. ICE Unlock is available today as a free download in the Google Play Store.

ICE Unlock works with existing hardware on more than 500 million Android devices on the market. Set up is quick and simple and once installed, unlock processing and fingerprint verification takes less than a second. Users are required to register a login pin to ensure they are never locked out of their phone in an emergency.

“Our mobile phones are the hub of our lives, so it’s more important than ever to keep all the personal and professional information stored on our devices as secure as possible,” said Diamond Fortress Technologies CEO Charles Hatcher. “Fingerprint scanners available on other mobile platforms are simply not as accurate as ICE Unlock.”

Loss or theft of an unsecured phone often results in access to sensitive data. According to a 2011 report by the Federal Communications Commission, crimes involving cell phones now comprise 40 percent of thefts in major American cities. In addition, a study by Consumer Reports found that more than 1.6 million mobile phones were stolen in the U.S. in 2012.

Developers interested in adding ONYX, the engine that powers ICE Unlock, to their own Android applications can purchase and download it from DiamondFortress.com.
