Night of the Hunter (Book Review)

Night of the Hunter is a new release from author R.A. Salvatore. The novel continues the New York Times best-selling storyline based off of Dungeons & Dragons lore. The fantasy narrative sees the return of Drizzt Do'Urden and his companions on a quest to save one of their friends. The book is a good read for fans of fantasy novels and the Dungeons & Dragons universe alike. The game is full of interesting characters, both friendly and dangerous, as well as highly detailed environments that readers can easily envision throughout the pages of the storyline. R.A. Salvatore is at his best in the fantasy genre, and Night of the Hunter should be destined to give the author yet another best-selling award in the coming months.

Night of the Hunter
features the return of Drizzt Do'Urden as the series protagonist. The Companions of the Hall are dealing with new issues as Drizzt returns to Gauntlgrym. The powerful Dwarven warrior Pwent has been infected with the curse of the vampire following the events of the last storyline, and Drizzt and company are searching for a way to turn their undead companion back into a mortal. Unfortunately, the journey won't be easy and will take the crew to the dangers of the Underdark where hordes of deadly drow are waiting to make their attack. The narrative draws readers in from the opening moments while wondering what dangers are awaiting the heroes and how they will save Pwent. There is plenty of great character development in the series, and readers don't need to be the biggest fans of the series to enjoy the new narrative.

R.A. Salvatore makes sure to include plenty of references to monsters, weapons, job classes and more elements directly inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons universe. In fact, the novel could be read and used to inspire similar tales for would be Dungeon Masters in their own real life Dungeons & Dragons storylines. Even if fans don't want to directly follow the storyline to Night of the Hunter in their own game of Dungeons & Dragons, there are plenty of unique monsters and situations for the heroes to encounter that may help readers come up with different scenarios using similar mechanics. While the book isn't a complete replacement for a Dungeon Master's Guide nor is it required to enjoy a Dungeons & Dragons session, it's still a good read that gives players additional insight on the lore of the franchise.

Night of the Hunter features hundreds of pages of exciting fantasy action based on the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The book is made with high quality paper with a glossy finish and is made complete with a detailed hardcover that fans will want to proudly display on their bookshelf or coffee table. The novel isn't cheap, but can be purchased for less than an official guide for the series. Dungeons & Dragons enthusiasts shouldn't hesitate to purchase the new novel, and fans of the fantasy genre will greatly enjoy the new story as well. Check out R.A.
