On August 9 and 10th, 2014, Pensacola Para Con plans to recognize the local heroes in the community in an upcoming event. The convention will be for fans of fantasy, science fiction, gaming, horror, costuming, anime and indie film, just to name a few. All those in attendance will have a chance to meet and greet the celebrities present and participate in workshops, panels, gaming, costume contests, and tournaments. Several local charities have partnered with the event to honor some of our local heroes. Each non profit will attend and offer " hero themed" fundraising activities, such as super hero walks, business to business costume contests, food drives, and corporate nerd games.
A portion of the proceeds from this two day event will benefit the Making Strides with Breast Cancer, the EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless, Arc Gateway, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida, and various local charities. This event will also offer discounts and activities at local downtown business, restaurants, clubs and tourist attractions. Tickets will start at $10 and children under 12 years of age are free to enter.
The guests scheduled to attend the event will include: Louis Ferrigno, also commonly known as the Incredible Hulk, C. Thomas Howell, Eric Roberts, and Micheal Krawic of the X files, just to name a few. Ericka Boussarhane says, “The event offers something for entire family.We are excited this year to honor some of our local charities. They are truly Pensacola’s hometown heroes. We have planned some surprise celebrity visits local businesses such as the Ronald Mc Donald House. We encourage local businesses to come out and join the event. Everyone is so excited to meet Lou Ferrigno, the Hulk.”
