Game Insight, a world leader in free-to-play mobile and social games, is pleased to unveil the first gameplay footage for its exciting new take on turn-based strategy games: X-Mercs: Invasion. The game is currently in development for iPad and will appear on additional platforms in the near future.
In X-Mercs: Invasion, players take the role of a mercenary captain on a war-torn, futuristic version of Earth that has been invaded by aliens. With the world already thrown into chaos, the battle against the extraterrestrial invaders falls to independent military corporations that must take on the alien threat, recover alien technology, and research it to discover new ways to counter the threat.
The new X-Mercs: Invasion video shows many of the game’s key features, including building and upgrading players’ military bases, training a team of mercenaries, and live field operations with an actual merc squad under a player’s command. In the game, mercenary squads will fight in ruined cities and different corners of the world, which has changed forever by the appearance of mysterious “Advinite” crystals, which provide near-limitless energy, but have also caused much of Earth’s animal life to mutate into terrifying monsters.
X-Mercs: Invasion will place the reins of a futuristic military corps into players’ hands as they construct their base of operations, build a team of professional fighters, study alien tech, and use their research to turn the invaders’ formidable weapons against them.
