The Wolf Among Us: Episode 3 - A Crooked Mile (Video Game Review)

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 3 - A Crooked Mile has finally arrived from developer Telltale Games. The new release is easily among the most memorable chapters from any Telltale Games title to date and ranks as the best so far for The Wolf Among Us series. The new episode picks up right where the previous chapter left off, as Bigby continues searching for answers to the problem plaguing Fabletown. The game is short but plenty exciting and has one of the most exciting endings for the series yet. Fans won't be disappointed with the new release and should pick it up immediately.

If the previous two episodes in The Wolf Among Us series taught gamers anything, it's to not get attached to any character for too long. The narrative is dark and dreary and creates some excellent lore for the beginning of the comic series. Bigby is faced with even more problems in the new release following the stressful moments for the protagonist in Smoke and Mirrors, and there are plenty of options included in the new release for players to choose how to react to other characters and quick timed events. The world of Fabletown isn't a pleasant place to live, and things just seem to be getting worse before they will ever get better.

A Crooked Mile does two things very well for the The Wolf Among Us series moving forward; several key characters are introduced that will be vital to the storyline in the final two episodes, and fans finally get to see how the choices they made during the first two episodes come full fold in the newest release. Several times while playing the new chapter, players will wish they could go back and change some of the reactions they had in the past to certain situations not only to see the different outcomes play out in the game, but just because they seem like the morally right thing to do now with hindsight.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 3 - A Crooked Mile also does a good job of further developing the character of Bigby. The character was already plenty interesting for players wanting to know how the character went from being the Big Bad Wolf of children's tales to the Sheriff of Fabletown, but the character's past becomes even more important in the new chapter. Players will find a need to learn more about Bibgy and the world of Fabletown in the new release, and luckily there is a full comic series waiting to be read for those who haven't discovered the amazing world crafted by Bill Willingham.

Fans should already know what to expect in terms of gameplay in A Crooked Mile, and not a lot has changed for the new release. There are plenty of quick time events mixed with plenty of narrative and decisions for players to make, and it's all pretty exciting. The occasional frame drops and other glitches will occur throughout gameplay, but The Wolf Among Us is a great series that isn't ruined by a few minor graphical hiccups.
