Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation (Video Game Review)

Devastation is the newest release for Call of Duty: Ghosts and the second DLC of the four planned to release over 2014. The new content drop packs four new multiplayer maps, new field orders (including a way to become a true Predator), the second additional chapter for Extinction multiplayer mode and a new weapon know as the Ripper for use in competitive multiplayer. The new DLC packs some pretty basic content for Call of Duty: Ghosts, but fans of the game will no doubt be excited to unlock the new content drop to add plenty of reasons to continue playing their favorite online shooter.

The first thing most players will do upon loading up Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation for the first time is to create a new loadout for the Ripper firearm. The gun is the most flexible ever seen in Call of Duty: Ghosts by allowing fans to easily switch between an SMG and Assault Rifle by simply aiming down the scopes and clicking in the right thumbstick. The gun has a good burst rate as an SMG and is a more than capable Assault Rifle from a distance. Players will want to tactically use the gun in the best situations for the current map, so it's vitally important to know the current map layout well when using the Ripper. Since the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation, the Ripper has easily been one of the most used guns in online multiplayer among players that own the DLC, so its popularity should allow you to accurately gauge how powerful the gun is during matches.

Online players also seem to have a favorite DLC map from Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation already with Ruins based in Mexico. The jungle ruins make the map perfect for using the Ripper with a combination of close quarter encounters and some longer hallways better suited for mid-range weapons as well. Picking up field orders and completing them during a match will allow a player to take control of the famous Predator monster from the highly popular film series. The Predator can tank a lot of damage and comes with plasma cannon, deadly blades for up close attacks and other benefits that can easily allow a player to take commanding control of a match.

The other maps included in Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation are Unearthed, Collision and Behemoth. Unearthed is the remake for the new DLC pack that allows players to relive moments from the Dome map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on an alien dig site with an explosive field order reward awaiting players that can meet the challenge. Collision is part cargo ship and part bridge. The map is full of close quarters encounters and comes with a field order that allows players to jump on board a Warthog helicopter to fly around the whole map, laying waste to any enemies caught out in the open. Behemoth has similar field order rewards but is a completely different map with multiple levels and plenty of places for long range encounters for snipers and rifle classes. Each of the maps adds something different to the game, but none stand out as particularly strong additions for the DLC.

Mayday is the final piece of content for Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation. The second released Extinction mode level takes players to the confines of an abandoned ship at sea, and the level is likely the spookiest level of Extinction yet. The new level builds on the narrative established by the first release of Nightfall and includes some new alien types such as the wall-crawling Seeders and a massive beast that can appear known simply as the Kraken. Surviving the level can be quite an ordeal needless to say, but there are some new weapons and other content that makes experiencing the new level a lot of fun, though we won't ruin all of the surprises in Mayday here.

Players will get their money's worth out of Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation and won't be disappointed nor overly impressed with the release. Ruins is a great new multiplayer map, and the Ripper is sure to be one of the most used guns by many owners of the new DLC. The other three multiplayer are less impressive but are new maps that helps breathe new life into the multiplayer experience nonetheless. Mayday is a really fun new level for fans of the Extinction game mode as well. Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation isn't exactly a must own expansion for fans of the game, but it's a good excuse to get back into Call of Duty: Ghosts should other new games such as Titanfall start feeling stale. Look for Call of Duty: Ghosts - Devastation on Xbox One today!

Buffet Bliss or Southern Swing-and-a-Miss? A Bite at Kacey’s in Huntsville

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...

Even if you’re new in town, you’ll feel like family after your first cup of coffee. The menu is straight out of a Southern comfort cookbook.
