Dead Rising 3: The Last Agent (Video Game Review)

Dead Rising 3: The Last Agent is the fourth and final planned DLC release for developer Capcom's Xbox One exclusive title. The new content for the game includes 6 new weapons, a new vehicle and a handful of new missions for players to complete. The content star Agent Brad Park, who has entered the zombie infested streets of Los Perdidos to help stop the outbreak before it's too late, but this obviously doesn't work out in Brad's favor. Players will likely find themselves disappointed with the new DLC, and only the biggest fans of Dead Rising 3 will be able to justify paying $10 to purchase the new content. It doesn't help matters that the DLC is once again single player only, so don't bring a friend to this after party.

The new content begins with Agent Brad Park entering Los Perdidos and consequently running into the game's main protagonist, Nick Ramos, before making his way to the local hospital to receive additional missions. Brad will spend much of his time in the city hunting down Zombrex to find and return to the hospital for a doctor named Cora. There are some different missions in the new storyline related to the hospital and same doctor, but the missions are still mostly fetch quests. The agent also receives missions for finding and rescuing survivors for the ZDC, but the missions are hardly very exciting or offer much of a challenge for players that have no doubt sunk a bunch of time into the game already.

While the missions contained in Dead Rising 3: The Last Agent are mediocre at best, there are six new weapons contained in the DLC. The most exciting addition for fans of the series will no doubt be the Impact Hammer first introduced in Dead Rising 2: Case West. The powerful hydraulic arm packs quite a punch, literally. There are also some other new firearms and other weapons in the new content as well, and though each new weapon is made available in the game's main campaign, it's hardly enough to make purchasing the new content worth it for players that don't already own the Season Pass for Dead Rising 3.

Players also gain access to an all new vehicle and blueprint with Dead Rising 3: The Last Agent. Once again, it's a cool addition for the game but hardly makes it worth paying $10 to access. The behemoth of a vehicle is one of the best for clearing out hordes of zombies and pushing cars and other debris out of the road, as it is made from a giant armored ZDC assault vehicle with a train grill welded on the front.

Fans will no doubt be disappointed with the entire season of DLC released for Dead Rising 3, and The Last Agent won't send the series out on a high note. Capcom seems to have a really difficult time in determining what fans are willing to pay for out of their games, and while the failed DLC releases for Dead Rising 3 doesn't affect the fun players have had and have yet to have with the main game, the lackluster set of expansions does tarnish a company that is already not as loved as they once were. Dead Rising 3: The Last Agent isn't a complete waste of money, but unless players are the biggest fans of Dead Rising 3 and cannot wait any longer for new content, it's better to hold off for a sale on Dead Rising 3: The Last Agent or to forget the content altogether.

Dead Rising 3 is now available for purchase from most major retailers for the MSRP of $59.99 exclusively for Xbox One. Dead Rising 3 is rated M by the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Content, Strong Language & Use of Alcohol.
