BattleCry was announced at E3 this year. The game comes from BattleCry Studios and publisher Bethesda Softworks and features a free-to-play MMO based in melee combat. Early impressions for the game have it compared to Team Fortress 2 with swords and bows, and that feels like a pretty accurate description. The game does look like a lot of fun and features expertly developed, cel-shaded graphics. An online multiplayer beta is scheduled to release for BattleCry in 2015. Players interested in the upcoming game can read on to learn more and see the announce trailer for the game below.
The reveal trailer for BattleCry was full CGI with no actual gameplay captured from the game, but it does give players an idea of what to expect in the full release. Players will engage in battles for up to 32 different players. The world of BattleCry is set in a near future after another World War has caused the ban of all gunpowder operated weapons. Disagreements are now settled in the arena with elite groups of warriors fighting to the death. The game currently features two different factions in the Cossacks and Royal Marines, and each faction has five different warriors including archers, brawlers and more.
BattleCry promises tight controls and plenty of combination attacks that can be used to take down enemy players. Dynamic movement is also a big part of what separates BattleCry from similar games. Players will find a freedom of movement to easily scale walls, grab opponents or perform other actions in the game seamlessly. The game also uses an adrenaline meter that can increase over time and eventually allow players to unleash powerful attacks or even their Ultimate ability. Though not all of this was shown off in the reveal trailer for the game, it sounds good in theory and could make BattleCry a real force in the free-to-play industry.
BattleCry looks to have a diverse cast of playable characters when the full release arrives next year. The 2 factions and 10 total warriors gives the game enough diverse characters so that every player should be able to find a character they enjoy using and can use throughout the majority of matches. A couple of announced characters include the Enforcer, who carries a massive sword and a shield capable of absorbing and dealing out damage to enemies, and a Tech Archer, who can fire off a barrage of arrows at enemies from a distant without ever being in any real danger. Both characters are seen in the reveal trailer below, so check it out now and look for more details on BattleCry on the site soon!
BattleCry is scheduled to enter beta on PC in 2015. BattleCry is not yet rated. For more information on the game, check out the official BattleCry website.
