Dragon Age: Inquisition was recently announced by BioWare and EA and is scheduled for release in October. The game was part of the EA Press Conference at E3 2014, and the team was also showing off additional content from the game for media live at the event. We were lucky enough to get in the special presentation for Dragon Age: Inquisition, and the game looks pretty good in its current alpha version. Some new features have been added to the upcoming game including the return of the tactical view, new characters and more combination attacks. Dragon Age: Inquisition seemed like it would be a lot of and an improvement over Dragon Age 2, so fans should definitely keep up with the game's development as we get nearer to its official release on October 7, 2014.
Dragon Age: Inquisition features a brand new storyline for the series that takes players to the magical realm of Thedas. The new setting has changed drastically from previous releases in the series with the land in complete chaos after several tears were caused in the Veil that separates Thedas from the spiritual world of the Fade. The event has caused former allies to turn on one another. Players will battle against powerful Mages around the land while also defending themselves against plenty of dragons that now fly high above the ground. The team assured attendees there would easily be 50+ hours of gameplay featured in the new title, and a non-linear story forces players to make important decisions throughout that will decide which of the game's 40 endings players will end up seeing once the game has been completed.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is a much more strategic title over Dragon Age 2. The new release will address many of the problems fans had with the sequel including the return of the tactical view camera. At any point during a battle, players can pause the game and rotate the camera around the battlefield to see how party members are handling certain situations. This gives plenty of information and helps players to form a strategy of attack rather than coming up with battle formations and commands on the fly. Other strategies players will want to consider is which party members are taken into battle, since combination attacks can deal tons of extra damage including the preview fight that showed a mage freeze an enemy before another fighter came in an smashed the enemy to bits with a hammer.
During the presentation, the team also showed off an exciting fight between the player's party and a fearsome Fereldan Frostback dragon. The boss battles in Dragon Age: Inquisition offer some really intuitive gameplay, as the player focused on attacking the dragon's back leg to slow it down and allow his party members to land even more damaging attacks on the massive foe. While we're still unsure how the graphics of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will compare with that of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, we can safely say the game looks pretty great in its current state on next generation consoles with the exception of a few graphical glitches that should be fixed by the time the game is ready for release. Gamers looking for an exciting new RPG game to pick up only need to wait a few months for Dragon Age: Inquisition to release on current and next generation consoles and PC.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is now available for preorder from most major retailers for the MSRP of $59.99 and is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on October 7, 2014. Dragon Age: Inquisition is not yet rated. For more information on the game, check out the official Dragon Age: Inquisition website.
