Snail Games New and Upcoming Titles That Includes Heroes of Gaia, Puzzle Heroes Saga and More (E3 2014 Hands-On Previews)
Snail Games is one of the leading developers of mobile and online games, and the company was present at E3 2014 showing off plenty of new and upcoming games from their expanding library of games including Age of Wushu: Tempest of Strife, Heroes of Gaia, Puzzle Heroes Saga, and Taichi Panda.
Age of Wushu: Tempest of Strife
One of the more popular titles from the Snail Games line of games is the martial arts based MMO Age of Wushu. The game is out now and available to download for free on Steam, but the team also wanted to show off some of the new content and expansions coming to their game. The title packs a lot of exciting action, gameplay and missions in the open world, MMORPG that also comes with new features on Steam that includes some additional in-game boosts and coins.
Snail Games also recently announced the launch of the Tempest of Strife DLC for Age of Wushu. The new content released last month and was the fourth expansion released for the game. Fans can download Tempest of Strife for free to gain access to the Jianghu and Secret Factions, and players can join the Vagrant School to experience the game as a whole new type of character not previously included in the game before. Some other neat features for the new release includes dynamic weather effects that will see player's surroundings change in an instant based on current weather conditions, while other environmental events can occur in the new weather effects to create unique missions such as stopping an assassination under a deep fog. We were thoroughly impressed with what Age of Wushu had to offer players, and it's still surprising that all of the content for the game is accessible for free.
Heroes of Gaia
Snail Games also had three upcoming free-to-play mobile games to show off at the event. Heroes of Gaia is an upcoming strategy RPG with turn based gameplay mechanics. The unique title includes 4 different races of characters and 40 different units to command during matches as well. There is a surprising amount of depth and variety in gameplay and classes in the game, and the team has seemed to done a good job at balancing the different races so that there is no one overpowered class featured in the game. Perhaps most importantly, the game is a lot of fun and is a game that includes microtransactions but isn't required to fully enjoy the title.
Once players get into a game of Heroes of Gaia, it becomes clearly apparent there is more to the game than first meets the eye. There are a surprising amount of customization options and upgrades available for players to unlock throughout missions. The game also features an armory where players can house equipment to further expand and strengthen their armies. The strategic game is challenging enough for veterans of the genre but different enough that a wide audience will have fun with the game. Heroes of Gaia doesn't yet have a release date, but we think this is one game fans should be excited for and follow as we progress later into 2014.
Puzzle Heroes Saga
Puzzle Heroes Saga was another of the free-to-play mobile games Snail Games was showing off at E3 2014. The newest version of the match three puzzle franchise features all new levels, features that make it a game worth checking out for fans of the series. The games series is unique for featuring a combination of gameplay with both puzzle and RPG elements with fights taking place in the backgrounds of levels. It's a fun and addictive concept that will have fans playing the title for hours with no need to spend any actual money on the game.
The RPG elements of the game really begin showing up between matches, as players choose different allies to make up their party. There is also tons of equipment in the game that can strengthen allies or give them new abilities. As players complete missions and explore new areas, additional items and equipment can be found or looted to make party members even more potent. During actual levels, matches can be made to unleash attacks and defeat enemies. The gameplay can be compared to the Puzzle Quest or Super Puzzle Fighter series, but players can look to pick up the game for free on iOS and Android later this year.
Taichi Panda
The last game Snail Games was showing off at their E3 booth was Taichi Panda. The game fits in the action RPG genre and could be compared with titles such as Diablo 3. Players explore dungeons in real time while using swords, daggers and similar weapons to land quick combination attacks and take down waves of enemies. The game will be free-to-play at launch and is expected to release later this year. The game was really entertaining and had enough content to stay fun for hours on end.
Taichi Panda includes multiple character classes such as the powerful warrior and the agile rogue. The classes really change how the game play, and plenty of equipment allows players to further customize the experience while also increasing the capabilities of their chosen character. Nice graphics complete the experience, while touch screen controls on Android and iOS devices could be one area where players choose whether or not they will really enjoy the title or not. With all of that said, Taichi Panda is a fun game with tight controls and entertaining gameplay that most gamers will enjoy and should look to download for free later this year on mobile.
