Journey Across Worlds: Kingdom Hearts Officially Arrives in Fortnite's Latest Update


The darkness has reached the Island! Epic Games has officially launched its blockbuster collaboration with Square Enix, bringing the beloved universe of Kingdom Hearts into Fortnite alongside the new update.

From iconic character outfits to mythical weapons and special in-game events, here is everything you need to know about today's massive update.

New Loot Hacks and Weapon Pool Changes

The September 17, 2026 update (v42.20) in Fortnite has introduced a fresh batch of loot pool changes and 13 newly obtainable sprites, though Epic Games is releasing further variants in waves next week. The v42.20 update refreshes the available loot hacks, bringing in powerful unvaulted or new weapons while cycling out older ones.

  • Added Items: Hyperburst Pistol, Mammoth Pistol, Reaper Sniper Rifle, Rocket Ram, Deadeye DMR, and Flowberry Fizz.
  • Removed Items: Loot Hacker Sprite Variant, Deadeye Assault Rifle, Mercy's Caduceus Staff, Wrecker Revolver, and Scorpion's Kombat Kit.
  • New Sprites and Crown Unlocks: While 42 new sprites were added to the game files in this update, only 13 are immediately unlockable today. The update introduces three new Sprite characters—Crash Bandicoot, Blinky from Pac-Man, and Pond—alongside Gold, Loot Hacker, and Cheat Master variants for each. The remaining variants, including the Morgana Sprite and Birthday Sprite, are scheduled to roll out in waves next week.
  • Bounty Hunter Crown Sprite: If you already earned a Victory Royale with the Loot Hacker Crown Sprite equipped, you will unlock this new variant automatically. However, it may temporarily be hidden from your collection until the remaining wave drops next week.
  • Admin Panel Codes: Five new passcodes were added to reward players with valuable in-game items:
    • MagicIsReal: TBA (Tied to Bastian Quest)
    • ChatFindMeAnotherCode2: Cheat Code Locators
    • DestinyAwaits2: Llama Supply Drops
    • BLINKYINKYPINKYCLYDE: 5,000 Sprite Dust
    • OCTURNEOP55N12: Extraction Accelerators

Wield the Light: Kingdom Key and Sea Salt Ice Cream

The crossover introduces interactive gameplay items straight out of the franchise:

  • The Kingdom Key: Wield Sora’s legendary weapon to unleash fast-paced melee combos and call down a devastating lightning bolt on opposing players. Notice a cool detail? The traditional Mickey Mouse keychain emblem has been swapped out for a custom Fortnite Loot Llama charm!
  • Sea Salt Ice Cream: Need a mid-fight recovery? Grab this iconic treat to instantly restore a portion of your health and shields.

New Kingdom Hearts Map Overrides

A haunting, heart-shaped moon now looms over the Island, accompanying two new dynamic Overrides:

  • Recovery Override (Squad & Match-Wide): Eliminating any player with any weapon drops special healing orbs for you and your team.
  • Level Up Override (Squad): Spawns a Mythic Kingdom Key directly at the current location for every member of your squad.

Item Shop Outfits and Cosmetics

Four legendary heroes from the series have touched down in the Item Shop:

  • Sora
  • Riku
  • Kairi
  • Roxas (featuring his iconic Organization XIII coat)

Each outfit comes packaged with its own signature Back Bling, Pickaxe, and a dedicated LEGO Fortnite style. Be sure to also check out the new Shadow Steppers Kicks shoe cosmetic!

Massive Fortnite Update v42.10: Everything Arriving on September 3

Epic Games is rolling out one of its most expansive patches to date with the release of the Fortnite v42.10 update. Main downtime for the update begins at 4:00 AM Eastern Time on September 3, 2026, with servers remaining offline for approximately two to three hours.
