The Addicted (Movie Review)

The Addicted is a new horror film from Recoil Films and Revolver Entertainment. The film takes movie aficionados on a frightful trip to an abandoned drug rehab clinic that turns out to be a group of young friends' worst nightmares. The film offers up plenty of scares even with a lower budget than some other horror movies, and though some of the actors are pretty horrendous, the film still manages to deliver entertainment for the hour and a half the film runs. The Addicted is definitely worth a watch, cause we still can't get visions of the antagonist out of our head a day after we finished watching the movie.

The Addicted begins with a group of friends getting the bright idea to head to a notorious drug rehab clinic in their hometown where a patient committed suicide 25 years ago. Of course, it turns out the "abandoned" facility isn't as empty as the gang thought, but once they find that out, it's already too late. The group is stuck inside the facility with seemingly no escape, and the lonely monster residing in the clinic has just found some new playmates. The Addicted features a pretty good storyline that touches on some dark subject matter but in the end offers a scary film that horror fans will want to check out.

Sean J Vincent pulls triple duty on the film by writing, directing and acting in The Addicted. The young director does a pretty good job in all three areas, though some of the other actors' performances are less than satisfactory. The film studios behind The Addicted are based in Britain, and as such, there are plenty of actors with heavy accents from different parts of the country. It's not too often difficult to understand their language, but it's worth noting this may be the first British based horror movie fans have seen since Shaun of the Dead.

By the time the credits roll on The Addicted, viewers will have jumped out of their seats a handful of times and will be happy they sat down to watch the flick. The Addicted won't be considered among the best horror movies of the year, but it's worth a rent and is a good way to spend 90 minutes in our opinion. The scary villain and frightening atmosphere makes the film worth watching, while some of the acting performances and special effects don't hold up nearly as well. Look for The Addicted on DVD and Video on Demand starting June 24, 2014.

The Addicted is now available on DVD and Video on Demand. The Addicted is not rated. For more information on The Addicted, check out the official Revolver Entertainment Facebook page.  Also, make sure to check out The Addicted on its official iTunes and Amazon pages.

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...

Tucked along Main Street, this little diner doesn’t just serve food—it serves nostalgia. Walking in, you’re greeted with that small-town charm you just can’t fake.
