The Art of Watch Dogs (Book Review)

Ubisoft's Watch Dogs awed viewers at E3 2013 with its amazing art style and graphical capabilities. With The Art of Watch Dogs, fans get to see the behind-the-scenes content, concept art and more that helped make Watch Dogs one of the most anticipated games of 2014. Ubisoft is one of the most well known and beloved developers in the video games industry, and the high quality graphics and art on display in their game libraries is a huge reason why. Whether it's the cartoon animations of the Rayman franchise, the bright neon colors of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon or the vigilante hacking action of Watch Dogs, Ubisoft games always tend to look great. The Art of Watch Dogs is a nice read and makes the perfect coffee table book for gamers and fans of the new, next generation title.

Watch Dogs is a fun game, and its popularity quickly made it the most preordered new game that Ubisoft has ever produced. Players take control of hacker Aiden Pearce in the game, as he travels around a Chicago setting to get revenge for the death of his family. One really interesting part of The Art of Watch Dogs is to look through various pieces of concept art to see how the team at Ubisoft recreated the Windy City for the game. Chicago makes a great setting for the open world game, and plenty of work was needed to craft the city from its colossal skyscrapers down to the citizens walking the streets. Readers of the new book will also get in-depth looks at the weapons in the game, vehicles and much more that they've no doubt already experienced in the newly released game.

Likely the coolest feature of The Art of Watch Dogs is the bonus quotes, narration and similar content from the design team for different pieces of art seen throughout the book. This allows fans to really gain some insight on the creation of the game and even learn a few personal details about the game's designers. Whether it's learning the inspirations for certain locations and items in the game or learning how the team gathered data to recreate a real city in the title, there is a lot of really interesting information to find out about Watch Dogs that many will never know without picking up the new book.

The only problem with The Art of Watch Dogs is that is has to end. The book is a bit expensive, but is a good investment for fans of the game overall. Titan Books has proved they know the best ways to create video game art books and similar gaming releases, and The Art of Watch Dogs is another good example of the company/s expert publishing. The art featured in the book is stunning, and the layout of the new release makes looking through and learning more about each piece a really rewarding experience. Buffet Bliss or Southern Swing-and-a-Miss? A Bite at Kacey’s in Huntsville

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...
