The World According To Wolverine (Book Review)

Insight Legends' The World According to Wolverine written by Matthew K. Manning and illustrated by Stephen Mooney allows the reader to see the softer side of Wolverine. James "Logan" Howlett also known as the amazing Wolverine invites fans into his personal life in the new book that gives more insight into his troubled past. If you thought you knew Wolverine, then The World According to Wolverine will give you a whole new perspective on the mutant!

The World According to Wolverine is 64 pages with 11 inserts that is divided into 29 chapters to allow the reader to take everything in at their own speed. As you may have guessed, the book starts off with Wolverine saying how this usually isn't his kind of thing and he typically likes to keep his thoughts to himself. Unlike the heroic Spider-Man (read our The World According to Spider-Man review here), Wolverine is more reserved and maintains a quiet, mysterious persona.

The new story is more of an adventure for the kiddies who are looking for a role model, and Wolverine tells an adventure that is horrific yet informative, with stories that hopefully let you second-guess that next stupid decision before you make it. The World According to Wolverine starts out by telling readers about his sad and depressing past that goes into ways on how to deal with the pain. The book gives some helpful advice for real-world situations that can apply to any situation for kids or adults alike, for example, it is best to find a distraction and stay busy instead of wallowing in self-pity. Now that is good advice, even if it did come from Wolverine!

The World According to Wolverine breaks the X-Men's story into several interesting segments that includes hunting made easy, keeping the animal in check, living off the land, and how to tell friends from enemies. The World According to Spider-Man took a light and humorous approach to telling the character's story whereas the The World According to Wolverine manages to take on some serious subjects like dealing with bullies (aka the Hulk) and even being a team player while at the same time being an entertaining and informative read. It is safe to say that all readers can enjoy The World According to Wolverine, and fans of the series will be very please with the great storytelling and illustrations.

The World According to Wolverine released on June 11, 2014 and is available from most major retailers including Insight Editions for $24.95. For more information on The World According to Wolverine, check it out on the official Insight Editions website.
