Destiny's alpha gave players a quick preview of the upcoming title for PlayStation 4 a few months back, while the all new beta version of the game released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in July. The newest build of the game includes more features that will be reflective of the final version of the game than any previous release. Fans of the game series from developer Bungie will be immediately excited to play the game when booting up the beta for the first time with a polished graphical presentation that offers one of the best looking test versions of any game that has ever been released and a fully orchestral soundtrack that stands among some of the best music ever used in a Bungie video game. Based on what we've seen out of the game's beta, Destiny should be one of the truly special games that releases for next generation platforms, so September cannot come soon enough.
The new Destiny beta begins similar to the alpha version of the game, as players enter a character creation screen soon after booting up the game for the first time. Players can choose from one of the game's three character classes and customize their weapons, clothing, accessories and some other items. Once a character has been created, players can jump into the main storyline of Destiny. The first level of the beta is the first from the full version of the game that was also shown during the E3 presentation of the game. Fans who saw the game in action at the show will know what to expect here, but the game is a lot more entertaining when actually holding a controller in hand than when watching a suit play the game on television.
After completing the introductory level, players will have gained access to an AI companion, voiced by Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, a few new weapons, a new story mission and access to the Tower. Players can interact with each other, team up for missions, unlock new weapons and equipment or simply relax in the Tower central social hub. Other missions become unlocked as players complete additional missions with each new mission offering a greater challenge based on the current level of the player's Guardian. There is about an hour or so worth of content in the beta, but the test version of the game only offers a small sample size of what the full game will offer players this September.
Each new version of Destiny that is released seems to be even more impressive than the previous versions we've played over recent months. Destiny definitely holds up to the same high quality standards of the Halo franchise with fantastic next generation console graphics and an exciting soundtrack that is sure to get any gamer excited to play the first-person shooter. The game will offer endless hours of gameplay at launch with a customizable experience and three different playable classes that will make the game one that should well outlast the competition in the first-person shooter genre. There is certainly a lot of hype and anticipation surrounding the impending launch of Destiny, but it seems pretty obvious at this point that fans won't be let down once the game finally arrives this September. Preorder your copy of Destiny today because it is one of the best titles that we have played in awhile!

About The Destiny Beta
Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), and Bungie confirmed millions of people have played their upcoming and award-winning game Destiny during their beta test to gather vital information in preparation for launch. The Destiny Beta included a sampling of major activities featured in the full game. The beta began first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on July 17 and came to a close Sunday evening, with 4,638,937 unique players participating.
"This is the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. "Hosting a beta at this scale is an incredible feat, so we're thrilled to see the phenomenal response. But the beta is just a taste of what's to come. We're counting down the days to our launch day, September 9th."
"We were totally blown away by the number of people who played the beta," said Pete Parsons, COO of Bungie. "We surpassed even our own goals and the feedback was invaluable. We cannot thank the community enough, the response was humbling and in the weeks ahead we'll be working hard to ensure that Destiny lives up to the expectations at launch."
