Devil's Mile (Movie Review)

Devil's Mile is a new horror film from director Joseph O'Brien starring David Hayter. The new film features a familiar plot of a group of people finding themselves stuck on a haunted road, but there are enough twists and turns throughout this film to make it well worth the ride. The story begins with a group of criminals kidnapping two young girls, but things soon turn bad for both groups when an abandoned highway turns into a haunted wasteland. The film is full of frightening moments and features some pretty strong acting performances from many of the film's cast members. Devil's Mile is ultimately one of the better horror films we've got a chance to watch in 2014 and horror fans should be on the look out for the release of the movie this August.

The acting seen in Devil's Mile is surprisingly high quality. The star of the film voiced Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid franchise for many years before landing the part of Toby McTeague in the new film. Hayter's voice acting experience seems to have paid off, as he delivers a great performance as a misunderstood criminal in the film. Hayter's high quality acting seems to have lifted the performances of those around him as well with several of the film's other actors and actresses offering up some believable performances throughout the movie too. The directing job of Joseph O'Brien shouldn't be understated either, as the director seems to capture perfect camera angles to instill the most horror and fear in the scariest scenes during the film as well.

Devil's Mile features special effects inspired by Japanese horror films. The quality of the effects are top rate, and are scary enough to make even the most hardened horror fans jump several times throughout the film. Fans of films such as The Grudge will love the spooky spirits that haunt the main characters in the film. There are plenty of terrifying ghosts lurking in the dark that can't wait to rip the flesh off the faces of the film's main characters, and the film does a good job of raising the intensity and anticipation felt by movie fans with each additional death of a character.

Horror fans will be happy they spent the time to watch Devil's Mile by the film's end. The movie isn't just about scares and features some real character development to go along with the blood, gore and ghosts. The combination of thriller action, spooky scenes and thoughtful scenes of character progression gives fans reasons to love the film, and we're sure all horror fans will want to pick up the movie and watch it as soon as possible. Look for Devil's Mile on DVD and Video on Demand starting August 12!
